Business Print scores Polar guillotine first in Ireland

Business Print is the first Republic of Ireland company
to take delivery of the latest generation Polar X Plus guillotine.

The family run business has taken a 78cm width model to supplement the work of an older Polar 78 in an effort to increase capacity and eliminate a production bottleneck.

The Polar X Plus is a standalone cutter capable of about 5-10% better output than a Polar X. It features a modern touchscreen interface.

“Polar guillotines are reliable workhorses and the latest generation X Plus model is easier to use, quicker and programmable making set up very straightforward. Turnarounds will be faster, lead times shorter and with two guillotines we have maximum flexibility.

In the first week there was a noticeable increase in productivity,” says John O’Rourke, a director who works alongside brother Paul and father and founder Larry.

The Polar 78 X Plus will handle both litho and digital printed work which means cutting both paper-based, polyester and other alternative substrates. Products handled range from business cards and leaflets through to direct mail and full scale book work. Business Print supplies work to the whole of Ireland and has some export to the UK.

The company currently runs a single shift but hopes to move to double day working within six months. It offers a design to delivery service, including comprehensive finishing facilities including folding, gluing, inserting, booklet making and perfect binding.
