Consort MD David Ryan Back on Home Soil

Following seven years heading up the UK operations of Japanese offset and screen press manufacturer Sakurai, Consort Printing Machinery MD, David Ryan has returned full time to Ireland to further develop the company he founded over 20 years ago.

The position at Sakurai UK was originally planned to be a three year contract, however the onset of the financial crisis saw David tasked with a complete overhaul of the company’s operations, refocusing on the screen press market, as the demand for offset presses declined rapidly.

Commenting on his return to Ireland and Consort, Ryan says “Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed my extended and challenging stint in the UK with Sakuria, I have missed the daily involvement with the Irish print market and feel now is a good time to return and give Consort my full attention”

Whilst offset machinery will still be a major part of Consorts business, particularly with the manufacturers market leading position in LED-UV presses, the experience gained in the screen printing market will also play a major part in Consorts future.
“In the first half of 2015 we installed 16 new screen printing units throughout the UK and Europe, it’s a very exciting and vibrant sector, which we will be servicing in Ireland under the Consort umbrella in the coming years”

Consort will also continue to sell and support Presstek DI presses and Ctp Systems, together with retro fit LED-UV systems from Baldwin and screen drying equipment from leading manufacturer Natgraph.

Always on the lookout for new products, Consort will also be looking to extend its product portfolio and is currently discussing Irish market opportunities with global suppliers and manufacturers.
